1998 Ovation 1769 Al Dimeola Signature Cutaway Guitar
Overview: Mr. Dimeola has had several variations on this same basic Ovation model, but this late-'90s version is pretty slick. The black finish, carved bridge, and profuse inlay adds-up to something that's got some flash on stage, for sure. Per the usual for a deep-bowl Ovation, it has that "Balladeer" sound -- clean, balanced, and with a nice, robust, lower-mids-emphasized, punchy sound. The neck is also quick and easy but not meek, per the usual Ovation feel.
Interesting features: I love the carved bridge wings and Gibson-banjo-esque fretboard markers. The cutaway makes upper-end playing nice and easy and, despite the deep bowl, the instrument sits well. It has the classic, piezo-embedded-in-saddles Ovation pickup and preamp. The hardware is all quality and gold-plated.
Repairs included: Max gave it a level/dress of the frets and a setup. It's ready to roll and playing spot-on.
