2016 Washburn J600 Hollowbody Electric Archtop Guitar

Overview: For its price point, this Washburn is a slick fellow. It's got modern jazz guitar vibes, with a matte finish, aged hardware, and retro-futuristic f-holes. The wood pickguard and tailpiece are aimed at high-end styling, too. It's clearly chasing after the big-box, electrified jazzbox thing and it does it well.

Interesting features: The mini-humbucker pickup has a good, even, clear, and crisp sound. It may not be what the average, newly-minted, jazzbox buyer is expecting. I have to give Washburn a lot of credit here, though, because this is the sound of many actual vintage jazzbox pickups. It's a great starting-place if you're into the genre because you can tweak your tone darker as much as you want with your controls or amp but if you need to get your treble back, you can do so.

Repairs included: Ancel actually had to do a bit of tweaking on this guy to get it healthy. It got a level/dress of the frets and the tailpiece string-hanger needed to be bolted to the tailpiece as, when we first tuned it up after a restring, the plate ripped right out of it (it was only held on by three small screws). I think the bridge top was also modified slightly to improve intonation. It's setup, ready to go, and playing nicely.

It comes with: It has a decent hard case, as I recall.
