2020s Hofner Violin Ignition Hollowbody Electric Bass Guitar
Overview: This entry-level copycat of the famous Hofner 500/1 Violin bass is pretty dang good and even has the odd, "Cavern" version pickup placement for extra-thumpy, whumpy, classic sounds. The build is good, the weight is good, the feel is good, and all it needed was some setup work to play like "the real thing." Is the finish less-fancy? Yep. Is the hardware not as fancy? Yep. Is it still a good bass? Yep.
Interesting features: Vintage touches include, of course, that oddball string spacing and a zero fret nut. The wiring harness oddities remain the same, too, with a control plate that has a solo/rhythm switch (for "direct through" signal or "put behind a dampener" signal) and the individual on/off switches for each pickup. Unsurprisingly, it sounds best with everything on and wide open, to my ears.
Repairs included: I just had to give it a quick setup. It's playing spot-on and ready to go.
