2010 Gary Zimnicki 000-Size Guitar

Overview: This is a gorgeous, well-executed, even-sounding, full-sounding boutique guitar. Gary Zimnicki has built all sorts of instruments since the '70s and this 2010 model is just about everything you could want in a modern, small-build, 000-size guitar. It'll do old-time backup just dandy, swap to fingerpicking or Celtic droney modes, and would sit well in a folk-rock situation, too. The neck is quick and modern, it's got a paired-down and simplified look that's betrayed by slick, multi-ply, wood binding and purfling, and the burled rosette is just icing on the cake. The build is crisp and accurate and it has a bit of deco styling in that headstock shape that's pretty attractive. Spruce over cocobolo with lightweight x-bracing and a shorter scale gives it a warm, 000-28 sort-of voice that's cleaner and clearer in the mids and upper-mids than, say, an old Martin.

Repairs included: I just gave it a quick setup and minor adjustments. It's playing bang-on and ready to go.
