2012 Gibson Midtown Semihollow Electric Bass Guitar

Overview: This character is like a mix between an EB-2 semihollow bass and an EB-3 solidbody bass. It's got a flat top and back which gives it a "solidbody" sort-of look, but is semihollow in build and features a Fender-style 34" scale length rather than the shorter length of traditional Gibson basses. This gives it a bit more punch, clarity, and snap rather than the whoomph sound of most Gibson basses fit with mudbuckers and minibuckers. The design is stripped-down and simplified and it makes a good, modern bass that fits with aesthetic and tone of older music. I like it!

Repairs included: I gave it a level/dress of the frets, a ton of cleaning, and good setup. I also swapped-out the heavy roundwounds that were on it with midweight flats from our parts-bins... an upgrade that puts this in a feel and tone sweet spot. It's playing spot-on and ready to go.

Condition notes: It's in good shape overall. There are signs of use, however -- light scratching to the clearcoat here and there throughout the body and neck finish, a couple of chipouts to the finish at the bass-side f-hole, and a few small nicks and dings at the body edges on the back. The strap buttons are non-original straplock-style guys. It's otherwise original throughout. There's a little wear to the hardware here and there.

It comes with: It has its original hard case.
