1938 Kalamazoo KG-11 (Gibson-Made) 00-Size Guitar

This cool old Kalamazoo KG-11 did not last long at all in the shop. I barely had time to snag some pictures before it left out the door. It has a date stamp at the back of the headstock that suggests 1938 manufacture but the smaller sunburst (with darker edges) and the rooftop headstock shape suggest slightly earlier to my eyes. Maybe it was one that got stuck in the factory a while before heading-out? Beats me!

Suffice to say, this one has a great, woody, warm, old-time voice. Jose did most of the work on it -- re-resetting a neck that had been set to steep, making a new saddle, fixing some braces (as I recall?), and setting it up. Max leveled and dressed the frets and cleated the hairline crack near the pickguard.

This looks so much like my KG-11, I had to go check my case! :^) Mine looks more orange in the burst (which could just be differences in light or the camera - stair color looks different too), and the pick guard pattern is different, but the size / shape of the burst is almost identical. Not surprised it left the shop fast!
