2008 Martin XC1T Ellipse Cutaway 000-Size Guitar

Overview: These cutaway, 000-size Martins were mostly made in their Mexico factory, and this one is as well. It's been loved as a stage guitar for a long time by all appearances and it was ridden hard and put away wet when it arrived. Since repairs, it's cleaned-up and awful lot and is now a practical, sturdy, easy player. It has a good, full voice, great lived-in looks, and interesting, modern styling. The top is solid and it has an ebony fretboard and bridge, though the neck is super-ply Stratabond and the back and sides are HPL which is a bit like fancy Masonite -- a material I actually think is pretty fantastic on acoustic instruments with the right application (those old '60s Danelectro Convertibles always sounded way better than they should).

Repairs included: Max gave this a level/dress of the frets, a ton of cleaning, and a good setup. Ancel helped him repair some loose top bracing as well. The original Fishman pickup system wasn't working properly anymore so we yanked it and filled the endpin-jack hole and added a strap button. It's purely acoustic at the moment, though I'm happy to put a K&K pickup in if desired. It's playing spot-on and ready to go!

Condition notes: Oh my, has this one been played! There's a ton of pickwear on the upper bout and nicks, scratches, and dings and general playwear throughout the top. The back and sides look pretty decent but the back of the neck shows a lot of wear/discoloration to its finish. It's been absolutely loved! Luckily, it has no cracks.

It comes with: It has a presumably-original hard case.
