1930s Regal Spruce/Mahogany Tiple

Friend of the shop Mr. B. sent this tiple in for us to repair for him. He's into all of the completely bizarre instruments we like, too, and so it was natural to find him toting a tiple as well. This is the prototypical Regal tiple from this era -- spruce over mahogany, ladder-braced, and with a "tie block" bridge design that works much better when matched with a tailpiece.

I reset the neck on this, Max leveled and dressed the frets, and then Ancel did the rest -- fit the tailpiece, modified the bridge with a fully-compensated bone saddle, and set it up. We tune these GCEA low to high like ukes with octave-down wound strings on the GC&E. These are roughly the same size and scale as tenor ukuleles but use steel strings.
