1950s Paul So-And-So 3/4 Carved Double Bass
Update December 2025: This bass is now for sale!
This killer, fully-carved double bass has an unreadable label but it appears to read "Paul Ho**rt*" or somesuch, hence why I've called this a Paul So-And-So bass. It looks to be either '40s or '50s in build era considering the tuners and it's likely an import of some sort. It sounds alarmingly-good, looks snazzy as heck (check out the nice flame on the solid back and sides), and thanks to ministrations from Manny, now plays like an absolute champ.
Said ministrations included an immaculate plane/dress of the fingerboard which was crazily out-of-sorts (especially on the E-side), install of thumbwheels for the bridge, setup, and seam repairs. He knocked it out of the park with the work on the fingerboard and it turned a good-sounding but wonk-playing instrument into something that can sit pretty and hang in any jazz-cat session.
