1960s Silvertone 621 (Harmony H162) 000-Size Acoustic Guitar (Modified)
The Silvertone 621 is the Sears-branded version of the venerable Harmony H162. This particular one has had a lot of alterations by the last guy to work on it, making it an interesting guitar to handle -- especially if you're a fingerpicker, where it shines.
Said modifications include a rebrace of the top with A-frame bracing (like half an X pattern with a ladder brace below the soundhole -- very similar to about 1/3 of old Gibson L-1 flattop braces), a new rosewood bridge with bone saddle, new frets, new tuners, a truss rod install, and a completely new solid walnut back. That's a lot of work! It looks like it got some old crack repairs and whatnot done, too, and it has a fresh new pickguard in the same shape as the old (white) one that would have been on it.
It arrived playing ok but Max dialed it in with a level/dress of the frets and some setup work. This one's owned by a friend of the shop and is likely headed home tomorrow.
