1961 Harmony H7032 (H1260 Sovereign) Jumbo Acoustic Guitar
Overview: How many old H1260s have we worked on? At this point it's a rhetorical question. This one has a 1961 date stamp and an odd, H7032 model-number stamp which is usually found-on Sovereigns that are branded Airline. This guitar, however, has a faded headstock mark for Kay decals, of all things, though -- and that makes no sense at all as Kay was Harmony's direct competitor. Oh well!
The short of it is that, post-repairs, this is a huge-sounding old Sovereign in all the best ways -- woody, airy, wide-sounding, and very fundamental in its nature.
Repairs included: I reset the neck (and added bolt-reinforcement at the neckblock), Max leveled and dressed the frets, and Jose recut the bridge, fit a new saddle, and set it up. The bridge alteration is quirky -- it has a bone saddle that sits right at the front of the bridge and is fixed with screws to keep it in place due to Harmony's poor placement of the bridge when it was made -- and Jose gave it a conversion to pin-style loading, too. It's playing spot-on and ready to go.

Condition notes: While the bridge alteration is interesting, I've used the same setup on a number of guitars that have had poorly-installed bridges with saddle locations off 1/8" or more to the rear and the like. It will hold-up just fine and it sounds great. What else? There's the usual assortment of light-to-medium scratches, scuffs, nicks, and dings throughout the finish on the body and neck, but none of it is egregious. There's weather-checking throughout the finish, too. Everything is original except for the saddle, bridge pins, bridge alteration, and truss rod cover.
It comes with: It has an old case.
