1930s Gretsch Model 50 Carved-Top Archtop Guitar
This is the second Gretsch Model 50 I've worked-on and these old, 1930s Gretsch archtops just do not come up very often. It's a carved-top guitar, built around 1935 or so, with a great "bark and bite" and a lot of oomph, and it arrived in decent shape but needing a whole bunch of work.
To that end I gave it a neck reset, level/dress of the frets, rebound the whole top (it had that usual Gretsch binding rot), cleaning, and setup. It's got a truss rod (non-adjustable) in the neck so it rocks 54-12 strings quite happily. The scale is on the Gibson side at around 24 3/4" or so.
The top is solid, carved spruce and it has ply-maple back and sides. It has tonebar bracing on the top and no bracing on the back. The neck is 2-piece maple and the board is rosewood. It has replacement tuners (1950s-era) and a replacement bridge (modern).
