1967 Karl Herrmann 4/4 Strad-Copy Violin

Overview: I took this in trade recently. It's a nice old German import violin of respectable quality and pretty clean for its age. It has a good, healthy, orange-tinted varnish and crisp details in the body, though the scroll is rather pedestrian in cut. The sound (despite the ho-hum Super Sensitive strings it has on) is excellent -- clean, on the fuller side, and to the point. I like it! The handling is good, too -- quick and easy.

Repairs included: It's had some recent adjustments and repairs but, after some work done by Manny, it's playing like a champ. He gave it a light fingerboard plane/level and then some setup work.

Condition notes: There's some edgewear here and there (at the headstock's rear, at the scroll's top, and body edges). I'm assuming the tailpiece, pegs, and chinrest are newer than the instrument as they look a little more modern to my eyes. The bridge is a hair on the low side but there's no need for a neck reset -- there's plenty of string height and we have it set low to appeal to both fiddlers and classical players who like a faster feel.

It comes with: It has a good hard case and a bow.
