1930s Regal Tailpiece "Double Spruce" Parlor Guitar
Overview: Friend of the shop Mike brought this one over from Pennsylvania. He's an off-and-on repairman over there and reset the neck and got this one to a point where we could finish it up. It's a late '30s or early '40s Regal of the tailpiece-and-floating-bridge variety. It's obviously been destroyed in the finish but in such a delicious way. The numbering on the fretboard suggests this was sold as a Hawaiian guitar when new and, clearly, it was a downmarket, student-level model with stenciled-on "trim" and markers.
It has a punchy, woody sound that's great for country-blues and fingerpicking but it'll do a bit of a gypsy-jazz-flavored job for flatpicking or chord-thumping. The weirdest bit about this guitar is that it has a solid spruce top and a solid spruce back as well. The sides appear to be poplar or birch, the neck is poplar, and the board appears to be stained maple or similar (not sure). This is all pretty typical of the time save the odd, top-wood, back. It's ladder-braced and lightly-built.
Repairs included: Previously, it got a neck reset (with added bolt-reinforcement at the joint) and some setup work done. Over here, Molly leveled and dressed the frets, added side dots, recut/refit the bridge, and set it up spot-on. It's ready to go!

Condition notes: It has a ton of wear and tear throughout -- scratches, scuffs, washboard pickwear, you name it. Structurally, though, I am finding no cracks except for a couple small repaired ones on the back and it's in good order. It's original throughout except for the bridge.
It comes with: Sorry, no case.
