1900s Stainer-Labeled 4/4 German Violin

Overview: This gorgeous old "Stainer" is not the usual type of faux-Stainer, import-style violin from the same period with the "squared" shoulders and murky brown finish. I've handled lots of those but only a few of this style which more closely follows the lines and cut of actual antique Stainer models, with their steeply-carved and curvy areas around the f-holes and slightly-flattened middle-top above that hard arching.

This is a nicer-grade, likely-German, import from around 1900-1910 or so and instruments in this style were often sold in mail-order catalogs at the time as "master copy" instruments. It has a smooth, even sound, excellent looks, and great handling.

Repairs included: Manny did a variety of repairs on this one -- seams, fingerboard plane, bridge work, setup, etc. -- and it's playing spot-on and ready to go.

Condition notes: It has a mix of old scratches, scuffs, nicks, dings, and some "faux-aging" that was likely done at the factory when it was made (very typical for the time). The fine tuners are unoriginal. The pegs are unoriginal and the pegbox has some inlaid/inset reinforcement strips where the pegs meet the walls on the outside. The chinrest and endpin are unoriginal and boxwood-style.
