1917 New York-Made 4/4 Violin

The inscription on the label of this instrument is pretty funky, but the part that I can read says, "1917, NY" and I say, fair enough! So -- it's an American-made violin, excellent quality, and with the looks to match. It has a very smooth, elegant cut overall and the purfling, edges, scroll, and details are all testament to a good maker.

Manny, I believe, had to repair some seams, repair a back center-seam crack, give it a fingerboard plane, refit the bridge, and set it up. It's now playing like a champ and has a balanced tone with a little bit of extra cut on the high strings.

The smooth, satin finish is a nice touch -- especially in its muted orangey-brown coloring with its subtle highlights.
