2020 Edward Maday Fancy Flatiron-Style Mandolin

Overview: While known as a violin and viol maker since the '80s, this Maday instrument is a mandolin instead. It's built to a high spec and in the tradition of a Gibson Alrite or Flatiron pancake model, but with much fancier appointments and build quality. It sounds a lot like a good Flatiron (there's actually one in the shop to compare it to) but with a little more volume and warmth on the low-end and a little more "sauciness" to the highs. A radiused fretboard, armrest, nicer tuners, and cute headstock inlay add to the charm and upgraded feeling, too.

Repairs included: This one just needed a good setup and some fresh strings. It's playing spot-on and ready to go.
