1910s Maurer (Larson) X-Braced Parlor Guitar
A customer of ours brought this in about a month or so ago and, while it was playing alright, it did need some fretwork, saddle work, setup, and lots of cleats (thanks Jose and Jacobi) to get it spot-on.
It's x-braced, bears the Maurer brand, and is likely a Larson product. Failing that, it also looks like it could be Bauer work In any case, it sounds gorgeous, plays like a champ, and looks the biz. I love the purfling and rosette details and the Brazilian rosewood on the back and sides has a nice, ruddy glow to it.
The bridge appears to either be a replacement or a modified original as it came with a compensated saddle slot. Yip! Some work had been done in the past but none of the drop-filled cracks had been cleated. Oh my!
