1919 Vega Regent-Style Bowlback Mandolin
This is a nice old bowlback that was brought in for repair by a local musician. I'm not sure of the model but it looks almost identical to "Regent" models I've worked on in the past (half a dozen or so) which are also, mostly, located in the blog's history. Its serialization allegedly places it around 1919 and, aside from a respray and repairs to seams on the back of the bowl, it's entirely original.
Our work included a level/dress of the frets, tuner lube, some compensation added to the bridge, and side dots. It's playing beautifully and has that clean, round, chimey voice that I've come to know from Vega bowlbacks (Vegas and Larsons are my absolute favorite vintage bowlbacks).
