1930s Harmony Johnny Marvin Airplane-Bridge Concert Ukulele
How about this cutie? I've worked on a number of these over the years, but this is one of the best-preserved. They call these a "tenor" uke per the advertising but it's really a concert-scale/size instrument. The body is solid mahogany with ladder bracing, the neck is mahogany, the bridge is maple, and the board is thin rosewood. It's original throughout except for the new bone saddle which is quite a lot wider than the original saddle because I needed to move the compensation point forward towards the neck to get it to intonate.
Work included a neck reset, level/dress of the frets, bridge reglue, new saddle fit, side dots install, and setup work. It's playing spot-on and ready to go. The necks on these remind me a little of Kamakas except with an oval/C-shaped rear -- they're wider at the nut with spacing of the strings almost to the edge of the fretboard on the outer pair.
