1960s Framus 5/156 Strato Star Electric Bass
Overview: Who doesn't love a weird old Framus? The narrow necks, slim and oddly-shaped bodies, and strange aesthetic choices give them their own thing. This short scale guy comes with a pschedelia-approved pickguard choice, too. While a little bit of work had been done on it in the past, we dialed it in thoroughly and now it's a practical, player's instrument. It has 2 volume controls, a master tone control, and on/off switches for both pickups.
Repairs included: Molly gave it a level/dress of the frets and set it up. Someone else had already fixed bad original wiring in places but we added a ground to the tailpiece. We also replaced the foam string-mute gizmo at the bridge and relocated the bass-side bridge post cup so that it could be properly compensated at the bridge. The pickguard was cracked and repaired (with shielding tape on the back) in the past, but we added a jackplate to its surface to reinforce the jack area which was badly caved-in. It's now good to go and playing bang-on.
