1960s Vox Sidewinder Hollowbody Electric Bass
Overview: These Italian, EKO-made, Vox basses are cult collector instruments for the very good reason that they're deliciously fun. The necks are fast, the headstock is enormous and out-front, the body gives Coronado vibes, and it has onboard effects. There's a distortion circuit and a treble/bass boost circuit built-in with 9V battery port access on the back. Did I mention it looks amazing?
Repairs included: Molly gave it a level/dress of the frets and setup. I fit a 1/2" dowel rod that runs internally (hidden) from the neckblock to the endblock (glued and pinned at either side) which adds barely any weight but makes the whole instrument stable like a solidbody in service. The problem with a lot of these period, bolted-neck, hollowbody instruments is that (like on this one), the neckblock shifts into the body. A previous repairman shored that up a bit but it was still wanting to shift into it under tension. The rod solves for this and is invisible. It's now playing spot-on and ready to go!

Condition notes: It's completely original throughout. There are scuffs, scratches, nicks, and dings here and there. There's a bunch of finish weather-checking/chipping (these have a pretty heavy clearcoat so most EKOs get this as they age) on the body. The worst is at the neckblock/neck joint area on top where the top "folded" a bit as it aged. That's been stabilized with the rod addition and previous glueup from a different repairman. The electronics work as they should and it's ready to rip!
It comes with: Sorry, no case.
