1977 Travis Bean TB1000A Artist Aluminum-Neck Electric Guitar

Overview: Hoo baby, I only see Beans once in a blue moon up here. This one's the fancier "Artist" model and has a carved-top, flamed-koa body and that, set against the chromed hardware and aluminum neck, gives this guitar some dang-fine looks. It's got some of the Wandre-style, oddball strangeness merged with a blend of Mosrite and Gibson aesthetics. I like.

It's got a quick neck, huge sound (especially at the neck pickup), and a surreal amount of sustain and "chime" in its voice. The brass nut, open-frame "T" headstock, and big-block pearl inlay are all nie-looking details. It has scratch-made pickups that sound fat but also "kerrangy" like good, Wide-Range humbuckers can sound.

Because so few were made, these guitars have become cult classics that continue to march up the vintage guitar foodchain. This one has been a player and shows some wear here and there but is also in pretty killer shape for its age.

Repairs included: Sarah gave it a level/dress of the frets and a good setup. It's playing spot-on and ready to serve. I sprayed-out the wiring and the original harness is working just fine.

Condition notes: It appears to be all-original throughout. There are light scratches, scuffs, nicks, and dings here and there throughout but it mostly looks great. The worst bits are some "buckle rash" wear in the middle of the back, some treble-side wear and tear and nicks to the finish on the side (from where it makes contact in the lap), and a little weather-checking to the finish here and there throughout.

It comes with: A non-original rectangular/flight-style case.
