1920s German Strad-copy 4/4 Violin

Overview: This oddball is an older, German-made violin (per its label) and dates to around 1925-1935 or so. It's built nicely and has a loud, clean, clear sound to it. It's had an awkward refinish job done to it in the past (or topcoating -- either way) that was pretty gross when it arrived. Manny took care of that by lightly sanding and then buffing it back up to a satin that suits it. It's still a bit "folksy" but it looks like an instrument, now, especially as the extra-figured flamed maple in the back and sides can now pop-out and catch the eyes.

Repairs included: Manny did a bunch of work -- re-repairing hairline cracks at the top (one to the bass side of the tailpiece and another small one at the treble f-hole, a fingerboard plane, seam repairs, cleaning, finish-tweaks, and bridge fitting and setup work. It's playing bang-on and ready to go.

The finish is either unoriginal (refinished) or had been topcoated at some point and is now buffed-out to a satin sheen rather than high-gloss. It has a workmanly, mellow look to it. There are the aforementioned crack repairs. to the top.

It comes with: This has an old hard case.
