1980s Dick DeNeve Koa Dobro-style Squareneck Resonator Guitar

Overview: My consignor bought this from the original owner who bought it from the maker, Richard "Dick" DeNeve, in the mid-'80s. It's largely an interpretation of an old '30s Dobro with a soundwell, though the materials are far nicer (solid koa throughout this body) and Mr. DeNeve installed an interesting, metal, tubular rod that connects neckblock to endblock. It has some folksiness to its build (the finish is not 100% perfect and there is a little creep along the fretboard's edges on teh top of the body) but it sounds terrific -- like an old '30s Dobro but on steroids. I'm very tempted to snag this from the consignor for myself, though I fear my buddy Rob (who's been playing a ton of Dobro, lately) might feel like I was trying to steal his job in our band. Har-de-har!

Repairs included: I just opened it up, made sure the cone, saddle, and spider were all seated nicely and in their correct positions, and set it up lightly (tweaked the nut and saddle slots). It's playing well and ready to roll.

Condition notes: It's entirely original except for a replacement cone (likely an older Beard) and replacement ebony/maple saddles. There are a few nicks and dings here and there and some light scratching from general use. It looks nice overall.

It comes with: It actually has a good, rather expensive, tweed TKL hard case that has been modified to fit the squareneck build.
