2012 Brad Sourdiffe "Birch" Short Scale Electric Bass

Overview: Mr. Sourdiffe has been making custom basses for himself and others for a while, now. This is one he built back in 2012 and has been using for himself ever since. It's got a custom body in solid, flamed birch over solid mahogany. It has some weight relief cut inside and Mosrite-like "ridges" on the horns give it a distinct, interesting look while all that flamed birch really catches the light.

The neck is a modified Allparts Danelectro-style affair that's been fit with a fancier headstock veneer and modified headstock profile. It still uses smaller, guitar-style tuners (which I like a lot -- why make the headstock any heavier, right?) and has the cool, Dano-style aluminum nut.

It has a pair of active humbucker pickups with 9V battery access on the rear. The controls are simple volume/tone settings for each pickup but the extra here is that each pickup is also splittable via a pull-up on the volume knobs. This gives it a huge range of tones to choose from.

Repairs included: All I had to do was give it a good setup. It's playing spot-on and ready to serve.

Condition notes: While the whole thing looks grand, there's light use visible here and there in small scratches and playwear in the body and neck. The worst of it are small, handling dings along the back edge that you can see in the photos. It's all light wear and, despite a lot of hours of use, it was taken care of really well.

It comes with: It's got a gigbag.
