1940s Strad-O-Lin Fancy Archtop Mandolin
This is a nice old Strad-O-Lin from the '40s that I'd setup in the past but it came back for a refret (good move!) and Jose did a beautiful job on it. This one sounds tip-top and has a nice, percussive, woody, springy sound to it. I don't think it cuts quite like a grasser as it's more poppy in the lower-mids than the uppers, but it can definitely get its sound right out front.
This one has a solid spruce top over ply maple back and sides. The board and bridge are rosewood and I'd compensated the bridge in the past. It has a way-cool celluloid cover riveted to the Waverly tailpiece cover and a matching pickguard to boot. I like!
The only things non-original are the '70s-era tuners, side dots, and frets.
