1965 Harmony H162 Coburn X-Brace Conversion 000-Size Acoustic Guitar
Overview: This is an old H162 that I traded-for ages ago. It sat for at least a couple years upstairs before Ancel went looking for x-brace-conversion candidates. He's done it up to a very high spec and it both plays and sounds tremendous, now -- like a cross between an early-'50s Martin 000-18 and a Gibson LG-2 from the same period -- woody and warm and very direct and folksy and loud.
The brace stock we've been using for conversions is laminated fir and carbon fiber so it can be cut very thin and low and still have a ton of stability. The proof's in the pudding, too, because every one turns-out like a champ and the tops are more-stable than similarly-converted guitars using traditional brace stock.
This one has a bigger and rounder neck feel but the new frets and board plane go a long way to making it feel high-class.
Repairs included: Ancel rebraced it, planed and refretted the fretboard (now you can see that Brazilian rosewood pop!), made and fit a new bridge, reset the neck, cleaned it up, and set it up. It's playing on the dot and is ready to go.

Condition notes: Aside from all the mods, it also has plenty of playwear and light scratching/scuffs throughout. There are two repaired hairline cracks on the back. The worst scratches are on the upper bout bass side where you can read "Steve" scratched into it, though it's not obvious. There's a filled hole in the back of the heel from where someone had bolt-reset the neck in the past.
It comes with: Sorry, no case.
