1960s Silvertone (Danelectro) 1457 Semihollow Electric Guitar

We've had a good number of these through the shop, lately. This is a mid-'60s "amp-in-case" Silvertone 1457 of the twin-pickup, longer-scale variety (the short-scale, 1-pickup version of this instrument is an entirely different beastie).

Despite its looks, it's built and handles a lot like a Danelectro U2 (I mean, it's made by Danelectro for the Silvertone brand) but with a little more of a compact, easier-to-handle-in-the-lap, body shape. This one has a surprisingly wide nut and flatter fretboard radius which is closer in style to the necks I associate with the Jaguar-shaped guitars Dano was making. Most of these 1457s seem to use the 1 5/8" widths that we find a lot on the U1/U2 models.

Anyhow, the work on this one was done by Jacobi and Jose -- a level/dress of the frets, replacement saddle (we actually had an original spare in our bins) with proper compensation cut for 3-wound, 3-plain modern stringing, cleaning, and setup work.
