2021 Iris DF Slope Dreadnought Guitar

Overview: Iris guitars are made up in Burlginton, Vermont. They're high-quality, superb-sounding instruments and build a little bit more to a "depression-era" style and spec. To keep costs down, the trim is simpler and the finishes tend to be satin with the grain pores peeking-out from it. I think this lends them a friendly look of the sort you also get from the Collings Waterloo line -- premium instruments but with a more plainspoken sound and feel.

This DF mimics an old slope-shoulder Gibson dreadnought, visually, and sounds similar to a '40s J-45 but with a good bit more low-end, woody warmth and a bit less top-end shimmer and shine. It's pretty-much a perfect old-time or countrified backup guitar.

Repairs included: While the guitar itself is in great shape, it had gotten a little dry in the fretboard and so Ancel had to pull and reseat every single fret (as they were loose) and then give them a level/dress job. It then got a setup. It's playing bang-on, still has some saddle left, and is ready to roar. One note -- these have bolt-on necks so any later, "major" adjustment will be easy to do. I've reset a couple others already and the job was about an hour, tops, for me.

Condition notes: While it's overall quite clean, there may be light scratches/scuffs here or there that I am not easily seeing as it has been handled and enjoyed for the last few years. The one thing I did notice is that there are circular string-winder marks at the sides of the headstock.

It comes with: It has a nice hard case and comes with a K&K acoustic pickup installed with an endpin jack and offset strap hanger. Yip!
