2022 Fender USA Acoustasonic Jazzmaster Hybrid Acoustic/Electric Guitar

Overview: This is the USA-made version of the popular Acoustasonic Jazzmaster. My guys in the workshop were a little skeptical of these instruments but, after I had them plug this one into an unbiased, flatter-response, acoustic amp, they figured-out the appeal immediately. Unfortunately, in the video I have this plugged into a tube electric guitar amp, and so the mids are pushed too heavily, but I wanted to provide a demo with a sound of what this is like when an average player plugs it into an average amp rather than what it should have (a flat response, PA speaker, or acoustic amp with controls set at noon).

Anyhow, I rather like these newfangled Acoustasonic guitars. The 5-way switch lets you move from 2 acoustic images to an acoustic/electric blend and then two electric images (as far as I can tell). The volume knob works as normal in all modes and the tone knob gives a very interesting "sweep" to the EQ and response in each mode -- letting the acoustic settings cover a huge variety of "body type" sounds and adding drive in one of the electric modes. The volume is pretty balanced throughout these changes, too.

They also have a decent, practice-worthy, pure acoustic sound and the lightweight build is nice to have, too. The curved-in soundhole rosette is classy and the way the top is fit into the routed-out mahogany body is worthy of Taylor-style CNC work. It's a slick build.

To get the most out of the electric pickup, I've got it strung with 49w-11 nickel strings with a wound G (as long as you're using strings with a wound G, this guitar will intonate nicely at the bridge).

Repairs included: This arrived with a mild ski-jump at the fretboard extension. I leveled and dressed the frets down there to remove that and then restrung and set it up. It's playing spot-on and is ready to go.
