1937 Harmony Gene Autry Parlor Guitar

This era of "Gene Autry" 12-fret parlor was usually sold through Sears with their Supertone branding in the soundhole. The label is missing on this one. It's built like an upgraded version of the typical Harmony 0/parlor-size body shape from the time with ladder-bracing but boasting a sold spruce top over solid (allegedly) maple back and sides. The neck is poplar and the board and bridge are ebonized maple (or similar).

What's nice about this particular guitar is that it actually sounds rather full and nice despite its size and its (necessarily) light stringing. It's also survived in rather good shape, with a clean stencil job on top of a roping cowboy on horse, a group of cattle, and even a chuck wagon pulling up the rear. Maybe Cookie will have my beans ready by the time the job is done...?

This is a local customer's instrument that Jose fixed-up entirely. It got a neck reset, bridge reglue and fill/recut of the saddle slot, new bone saddle and nut, replacement pins, a level/dress of the frets and side dots fit, brace reglues, cleaning, and setup work. You know -- the usual on and oldie!
