1964/1966 Jaguar/Mustang Electric Guitar
Overview: This is most of a '64 Jaguar with a '66 Mustang neck fit to it. It arrived with a nice, Decoboom pickguard, new control plates, new knobs, and a fresh wiring harness of good quality. The pickups, whammy, bridge, and brass shielding plates in the body cavities are all original, though, and so is the finish. The whammy arm is not. The Mustang neck is correct throughout and in great shape. So -- what do we have? Well, it's more-or-less a fancy partscaster, but it sure ticks all the boxes!
I've always been a Jaguar fan. I like the compact neck and body and as long as you give them a set of 11s or higher, the string feel is good and the guitar operates nicely once it's dialed-in. They get a little squirrely with thinner gauges, though, due to the way the hardware is all put together. This one plays like a ding-dong champ and is easy on the eyes as well. The "wide red" band in the sunburst is, apparently, a tell for a '63 or '64 body and has an unusual look that I rather like a lot more than a standard-issue 3-tone Fender burst.
Repairs included: I leveled and dressed the frets, did some refitting to the new wiring harness to get everything to sit nicely, cleaned it up a bit, tweaked the bridge (I add ferrules to the bridge post cups to lock the bridge in position like a Mastery Bridge setup and that helps with tuning stability a lot and then I snipped some of the longer adjuster bolts to keep them from bumping into the bottom of the strings with rough play), and finally gave it a good setup with a set of 49w-11 gauges. It's playing spot-on, the whammy is smooth and accurate, and it's ready to serve.

Condition notes: It's got its fair share of small nicks, dings, scratches, etc. along the edges and back and some "belly rash" on the back, but the body overall looks great. The body and neck have original finish throughout. As noted above, various parts are replaced, but the "heart" of everything is original in the body -- pickups, cavity shielding, whammy, bridge -- and the neck appears to be entirely original.
It comes with: It's got a nice, hard, molded, SKB case.
