1978 Guild D-40 Dreadnought Guitar

D-40s (or are they D40s? I still can't figure out if Guild was adding or leaving-out dashes on their labels from time to time) are the classic D-18 alternate you see bluegrass folks leaning-on in '70s bands. They certainly fit the role and have a quicker neck profile to boot. The mids are a little less-scooped on a Guild as well, lending to a little more attack compared to a D-18 but less mwah.

This one was in for work via a local customer -- it just needed a level/dress of the frets, cleaning, and setup work to get it going, though if I had my druthers I might have reset the neck as well so a taller saddle could've been fit. I think Jacobi did the work on this one and I was surprised at how clean it is! Usually D-40s come this way brutalized from decades of rough gigging...
