1980s Applause (Ovation, Korea) P/J-Style Electric Bass Guitar

Overview: Ovation/Kaman sold a lot of oddballs in the '70s and '80s. This Applause-branded, Korean-made, P/J-hybrid bass is '80s through-and-through with its black/red paint and hardware scheme, too! It didn't need a ton of work to get it going but I did tweak some things to make it more functional and "lean and mean." It's on the heavier side at 9 lbs but does have a good, classic, P-style feel in the neck and a retro-attractive, minimalistic look.

Interestingly, this has a 33" scale vs. Fender-style 34" -- so folks who want something a little shorter might enjoy that.

Repairs included: I filled the old side-jack area and replaced the wiring harness with a top-mount jack (for ease of use) and two volume controls. I also fixed the wiring so it doesn't go out-of-phase when both pickups are "on." After that I gave it a good cleaning and setup. It's playing spot-on and ready to go.
