2023 Fender Road Worn Stratocaster (Coodercaster Mod) Electric Guitar

 

This appears to be a 2023 Mexican Road Worn Stratocaster. I fit an old '50s National lap steel pickup to it (of the Coodercaster variety) which involved cutting the baseplate for the pickup, recutting the pickguard (a so-so job), mildly-cutting the body below the added pickup, rewiring it a bit (5-way, master tone/volume), and tweaking the setup to fit the height of the pickup.

The end result is excellent and the job took about 2 hours from start to finish. The whammy maintains full use, the metal baseplate wraps around the front edge of the bridge baseplate (which looks slick), and the wiring has an endearing "out of phase" in position 4 which turned-out to be very pleasant in a funk-chordal way so we just left it rather than reverse both of the Strat-pickup leads to remove it.
