1920s Gibson TB-1 Trap Door Tenor Banjo
I did a trade for this cool old TB-1 a few weeks ago. It's since just sold and on the way out the door I snagged a few pics so the video would have something to hang-out with here on the blog. I haven't looked-up the FON (pictured in the rim) yet but I gather this is early '20s due to the specs.
It has a very short (under 20") scale length, 10 1/2" rim, ebony board, maple neck, and the guitar tuners I love to see on old Gibby tenor banjos. Who doesn't want to stay in tune all night? Sheesh...
Work included a level/dress of the frets, fitting of a new bridge and head, cleaning, and setup. It plays like a ding-dong champ and left with its original case in tow as well...
