1960s Truetone (Kay) Solidbody Electric Guitar

Friend of the shop Ben came in to work on this himself with aid from yours truly. It's a '60s Kay electric of the sort I mostly see in red finish with a white pickguard, but this tuexedo-colored model bears Truetone branding. These are great guitars but, as-is from a junk shop, thrift store, or yard sale are definitely not fun to play.

Work included a full board plane and refret with jumbo wire, side dots added, wiring-cleanup and ground added to the tailpiece, "blocking" of the trem to make it a stop tailpiece, and compensation added to the original rosewood saddle so it'll play in tune up the neck. It, of course, got a setup as well.

One knob is a replacement but it's otherwise original throughout. These have a weird, long, 25 3/4" scale length that suits down-tuning even with lightist strings.
