1950s Fender Champion Lap Steel Electric Guitar

This '50s Champion came-in for "do whatever it needs to get going." Unfortunately, in the case of the pickup, that meant a swap-out as the original pickup coil is damaged. I saved it and the original harness, however (pictured), for the owner to mull-about later.

I swapped-in a balanced (read: poles set to fit the string type and gauges) Strat-style pickup of good parentage and fit a fresh wiring harness with a treble bleed circuit. It also got 6 newer tuner buttons as the originals were literally crumbling while I tuned it up. They're the same color, though.

Now that it's back to health, this thing sings. I love the style, economy of design, and good ergonomics of a Fender steel. It's hard to beat!
