1965 Gibson LG-1 00-Size Guitar
Overview: Folks into x-braced LG-2/B-25 models like to dunk on ladder-braced LG-1s a bit, but I like them a bunch. They've got this simple, straight-up, balanced, woody thing going-on that makes them excellent behind a mic. Fingerpickers tend to always get along with them as well, though flatpickers will need to back-off a bit to avoid thumping them into more of a "compressed" sound.
This one arrived needing all the usual stuff and now that the repairs are behind it, it plays like a champ and has both looks and that "perfect, old-fashioned Gibson neck" to boot. It's got a 1965 serial number and must have been one of the last ones made with the black, plastic, bolt-on bridge design. It also has a 1 11/16" nut width, like the '64 models and only some of its stablemate '65 models.
Repairs included: I gave it a neck reset, removed the remains of the broken old plastic bridge, and fit a new rosewood bridge (I made it in a shape that's somewhere between a '60s belly-up rosewood bridge and the old rectangular '50s bridges). Jose finished the bridge work (saddle-slot routing, pinholes fit, new bone saddle), leveled and dressed the frets, and then set it up. He also reglued a very tight hairline crack in the middle of the back of the neck as it enters the headstock (it was tight and looked like a deep scratch). I think the back braces all got some regluing of their wings as well and the loose pickguard got a reglue. It's playing spot-on and is ready to go.

Condition notes: There are a plethora of scratches, scuffs, nicks, and dings here and there throughout. The finish has weather-checked and has checked/crackled more severely on the sides. The bridge, saddle, and pins are non-original. One of the tuner button-shafts is bent a bit. There's a repaired (very tight) hairline crack straddling the back of the neck as it runs into the headstock (pictured). There's a repaired smaller hairline crack on the back near the neckblock.
It comes with: I've upgraded this to a decent, old hard case.
