1971 Harmony Sovereign H1264 Jet Set Jumbo Guitar

Overview: Jet Set models are popular among the folks looking for a "country western" guitar that's offbeat and will be a crowd-pleaser up on stage. They're definitely fashion accessories that also double as strum-boxes.

Like the H1265 models (double pickguards and also countrified), these big boys sound pretty much like a normal H1260 Sovereign but the bigger bridges with their adjustable saddles give them a little bit of a warmer, woodier tone sort-of more in line with period Gibsons. The Jet Sets also have birch back and sides which sound a little more direct than the mahogany of the H1265 variants.

This one arrived in decent visual shape but, per the usual, needing all sorts of work which is now done.

Repairs included: I gave it a neck reset and reglued the headstock veneer a bit. Jacobi leveled and dressed the frets, cleaned it up, adjusted and tweaked the saddle, fit a pair of new "repro" pickguards (the originals were black but we opted for "countrified" tortoise), and set it up. It's playing spot-on and ready to go.

Condition notes: There are scuffs and scratches here and there throughout the finish as well as a ding or two or three. The pickguards are replacements. The top of the bridge has been lightly shaved. The original tuners work fine but are not great. There's a chemical mark on the back of the neck behind the 10th fret area and some "ghosting" to the finish on the back of the neck as well. The finish, overall, has weather-checking throughout. The heel cap celluloid is starting to rot.

It comes with: As I recall, it has a funky old chip case.
