1957 Danelectro U2 Semihollow Electric Guitar

Overview: There is very little to argue about with an old U2. I had a "jade green" '56 and I loved that one to death when I still owned it. This '57 is almost identical in handling with a narrower, Fender-style neck width, wide frets, and a real fast feel. The neck depth near the nut is fairly shallow even for a modern guitar and it plays like a champ! 

If you know these guys, you know that the 3-way switch doubles as a "boost" when it's selected to both pickups on. It adds the two in series (rather than the normal parallel) giving the amp some push and, when left in that position, is one of my favorite garage-rock guitar sounds as it's got oomph but is also clean and clear like you'd expect from lipstick pickups.

Repairs included: Jacobi gave this a level/dress of the frets, compensation added to the saddle, cleaning, and setup work. It's playing bang-on and ready to go.

Condition notes: There's wear and tear to the finish throughout but it's not ugly -- I especially like the lower-arm wear on the lower bout's bass side. There are small nicks and dings and scratches here and there throughout the finish and the back of the neck's copper spray job is almost entirely gone -- showing the clear sealer coat underneath -- that's just normal playwear! It's all-original throughout. One of the lower knobs likes to spin a little past its stop (these are typically worn-out as they age) but it still works just fine.
