1990s Danelectro Convertible Quite-Very-Modded Acoustic/Electric Guitar
This quirky guitar was an "emotional rescue" for its owner as he'd had it rat-rodded sometime back and it arrived here with an el-cheapo Strat pickup, wonky trapeze tailpiece, even wonkier bridge, and bad wiring work done. Oh, yes -- and also that eBay-style replacement neck and mismatched tuners fit. Yikes!
Jake Too set-about fixing it -- he leveled and dressed the frets, fit a Kay tailpiece to it, and set it up. He and I both tweaked an old '40s Harmony adjustable bridge and I fit a lipstick-style pickup and new wiring harness to it, bypassing the old barrel jack in the side that tend to be constantly annoying for their owners as they age-in and wear-out.
The result is a guitar that's both nice-sounding plugged-in (like an old Dano) and quiet due to better shielding of all the wiring, but also very practical for strumming on the couch as an acoustic to work on tunes and songs.
