2019 Martin 0000-18 Custom Shop Guitar

Overview: This shadetop bruiser is a four-ought (0000) guitar of the 12-fret persuasion. If you ever wanted a 000-size 12-fret but wanted a bigger sound and a longer, OM-style scale length -- this is it! It's also got an Adirondack (red) spruce top and sinker mahogany used through the back and sides. It's got the stuff and it does the stuff.

As you might expect, a big old 12-fret guitar like this sounds a bit like a Norman Blake-style 12-fret D, though I think the tone is a bit more refined and has a lot more get up and go in the mids and upper-mids that begins to be washed-out in a 12-fret D shape. A flatpicker or a fingerpicker would be right at home on something like this.

While the guitar is relatively new, it's obviously been played-in a bit and has opened-up nicely. It also has an LR Baggs Anthem pickup installed, with battery access at the soundhole.

Repairs included: I cleaned it up and gave it a good setup. It's playing spot-on and is ready to go.

Condition notes: There's mild usewear throughout the finish -- small swirl marks from cleaning and a little mild "haze" from body contact at the bass side of the top where the arm comes down. There may be small scratches and scuffs I am not noticing. The guitar appears original throughout but the pickup install looks aftermarket. A strap button has been added at the heel and the endpin hole was enlarged for the 1/2" endpin jack to fit. The saddle is on the low side at the moment but it's still playing nicely and I expect it will need to be shimmed-up during winter dryness.

It comes with: It has its original hard case.
