2003 Martin D-18GE Golden Era 1934 Dreadnought Guitar

Overview: These Golden Era D-18s are built more or less to spec with antique Martin guitars, though with a few modern conveniences. They thus sound a lot like an old Martin and this one certainly does! This one's built with the scalloped, forward-shifted bracing and neck style of a '34 model in mind.

I jammed with my buddies Rob and Mike just last night and Rob was playing this guy for the duration. It's got a full, gutsy, loud, and punchy sound. It's hard to describe that vintage Martin dreadnought thing but this does it. Rob plays pretty hard and he was pretty-much overwhelming both the spiffy mandolin Mike was playing and the resonator tenor guitar I was.

This particular guitar has also been in fairly heavy rotation as a gigging instrument for a good amount of time, too, with a very good local bluegrassy picker and while it's a pretty clean instrument... it's definitely warmed-up! There's also a K&K pickup fit so it's ready to jack-in and play out.

Repairs included: I gave it just the lightest level/dress of the frets and set it up. There was also a small punch-in crack on the side near the endblock area (it just got a little bump) that I pushed-out a bit, filled, and stabilized. It's playing spot-on and ready to go.

Condition notes: There's the small bump-in crack (repaired) near the endblock on the bass side that's pictured. Otherwise, it only has very light scuffing/scratching here and there throughout. Hanging in the shop, it looks more like a 2-year-old instrument. It's very clean for being a 2003 gigging machine.

It comes with: It's got its original hard case.
