2004 Goodall AMHCJ3214 Small Jumbo Guitar

Overview: Goodalls are famous for a reason. This guitar, while on the understated side visually, sounds big for its size and plays quick and easy while doing it. Build quality is very high (as you'd expect) and this one was made while Mr. Goodall was still living in Hawaii (he now builds with his son in Tennessee).

A lot of his guitars from this period feature koa back and sides but this model is very traditional, being spruce over mahogany instead and with the simplest dot inlay except for the "G" in the headstock and a pearl rosette. It does sport a little bit of koa, though, in the headstock veneer.

It comes equipped with a K&K pickup installed so it's ready to gig.

Repairs included: Honestly, it was setup on-the-dot when it arrived. I only had to adjust the truss rod slightly after it had been here for a few weeks. It's playing spot-on and ready to go. It looks like someone either tightened or reset the neck in the past as the two bolts have clearly been accessed down there at some point.

Condition notes: There are light scuffs and scratches here and there but nothing I can point to -- it's like light handling wear rather than abuse or negligence. There is a clear plastic pickguard installed. While I would have expected the frets needing a level and dress for a guitar of this age, they arrived all in good order with only the tiniest of wear -- so I expect the owner was just very precise about his playing.

It comes with: It has a good, hard case.
