2010s Republic Highway 49 Cutaway Resonator Tenor Guitar

Overview: I'm a big fan of the old National resonator tenors from the '30s, but ding-dong-dang, this Chinese-made Republic resonator tenor is pretty dang good after it got a proper glorified setup! It's loud, full, cozy in the lap and just the right size, and the 12-fret neck joint makes it feel compact and makes the cutaway have a reason, too.

This one is in the "aged nickel" finish. It looks relic'd and, ironically, where it's had play is where it's most polished-up. I like the nod to tricone models with the grill soundholes in the upper bout.

Repairs included: I gave it a light level/dress of the frets and adjusted the saddle and cone seating. I added a shim below the dowel on the inside pressing against the back and the dowel near the heel like one of the "mushroom" posts nearer the resonator area. I find that this helps to lock the neck into position so it can't rotate or wiggle-around on the off chance the instrument takes a hit or bump. It's playing spot-on and ready to go!

Condition notes: It shows a bit of playwear and usewear in the finish of the body but otherwise looks pretty clean. It's got a "relic'd" finish to begin-with which only looks more "relic'd" as you play it, so... easy-peasy to take care of!

It comes with: It has a foam-style "hard" case/gigbag.
