1973 Guild F112 12-String Mini-Jumbo Guitar

I've worked and blogged on so many '70s Guild F112s that perhaps I don't need to introduce this one fully. I will say, though, that they're among my favorite 12-string designs -- they might be my favorite design. For more gushing, please check out the following:

This one was in for repair and it got the usual neck reset and fret level/dress work. In addition it needed a new bridge as the original was split. I found some cinnamon-colored rosewood among my stash (to match the fretboard) and made this one based on the original size and shape. My new bridge is only a 6-pin design, though, and features an entirely-compensated saddle for best intonation up/down the neck.

6-pin 12-string bridges have the advantage of inherently good back-angle (and even back-angle) pressure on the saddle and fewer pins to go missing. It takes just a sec to figure-out how to load them (there are two channels for each string to sit in and you have to put both ball-ends in the hole at the same time) but the advantages outweigh any discomfort at first. It also means fewer holes drilled in the bridge to dry-out and form hairline cracks at.

Per the usual, I strung this one really light so it would serve well as a chord-banger, jingle-jangle recording device. It plays fast and easy and someone before me swapped the tuners out for mini-Grovers which are far better than the originals.

Repairs included: neck reset, fret level/dress, new bridge, new saddle, new truss rod cover, cleaning, setup.
