1990s Peavey Fury P-Style Electric Bass Guitar

A few years ago we had a fretless version of this same bass in the shop (it had been converted) and I remembered really liking the neck, sound, looks of the cream on cream finish, and weight. They're like a lighter-weight P-Bass with more of a J-style neck shape (the best of both worlds). As you'd expect, they sound like a pretty typical P-style.

I've almost always had some sort of P-Bass in circulation (I've been playing a Mustang bass recently which is similar but going back and forth from a Tacoma acoustic bass at 34" scale and the Mustang at 30" was starting to make my brain hurt) but wanted to fill that empty role again. A quick scan of the web found this guy from a different music shop and it arrived half a week later. Thanks! It's actually a little harder to find this color combo, to be honest.

As far as repairs go -- I put in a new jack, cleaned it up, lightly leveled and dressed the frets, set it up, and fit some rubber pads over the existing saddles to give it a damped sound. I also used my drill press to hog-out a ton of material from under the pickguard, bringing this thing to exactly 8 lbs loaded all-up. Not bad!
